Board of Directors
Richard has wide business and board experience. His executive career was principally in the branded drinks sector where one of his achievements was in settings the foundations and early growth for Jameson Irish Whiskey. He was chief executive and later chairman of Irish Distillers and then co-chief executive of Pernod Ricard based in Paris. He has been a director and, later, Governor of Bank of Ireland and, since 2009, chairman of BAT plc. He is a director of Carlsberg where he is also chairman of the remuneration committee and a member of the audit and nomination committees. He was President of IBEC the Irish employers’ body and chairman of the Scotch Whisky Association.
Chief Executive Officer
Andy has acted as an advisor to the legacy Pepkor SA group since 2012, before jointly setting up Pepkor Europe as a founder investor in 2015 and becoming Chief Executive. Andy has an extensive retail career, focused in the discount sector, having been Chief Operating Officer and then Chief Executive Officer of Asda between 2005 and 2010 and Chair from 2011. Earlier in his 16-year career at Asda, Andy acted as Corporate Marketing Director and Manging Director of George clothing.
Chief Financial Officer
Nick joined the Group as Group Chief Financial Officer in 2018. He has 20 years’ experience within the retail sector, both within the UK and internationally, and significant experience in public companies, having served as the Chief Financial Officer at each of Superdry plc and Halfords Group plc, and Chief Executive Officer of Dunelm Group plc. Nick is a qualified Chartered Accountant and earlier in his career held finance and international positions within The Boots Company plc and Cadbury Schweppes plc.
Maria Fernanda Mejía
María Fernanda has broad and deep experience and expertise in general management including strategy development, operation, supply chain and talent development. Until February 2020, she had served over 8 years as corporate officer and executive committee member at the Kellogg Company, with her final roles being senior vice president and president of Kellogg Latin America. Prior to this, María Fernanda spent 23 years at the Colgate-Palmolive Company in a number of global marketing and senior management roles within developed and emerging markets. Additionally, María Fernanda holds a non-executive director of Bunzl Plc, where she is a member of the audit, remuneration and nomination committees. In addition, she joined Grocery Outlet, a US discount retailer, in January 2021 as a non-executive director and member of the audit and risk committee. Prior to this, she served as a non-executive director of International Consolidated Airlines Group from 2014 to 2020, including as a member of the audit and compliance and remuneration committees.
Grazyna Piotrowska-Oliwa brings strong experience across government and business in Poland and the CEE. At the start of her career, Grazyna spent four years working at the Polish Ministry of the State Treasury, where she was heading two different divisions and has continued to build and maintain her network throughout her career. Grazyna has a proven track record in some of Poland's biggest WIG20 companies - she brings some 20 years’ experience working for Telekomunikacja Polska and PTK Centertel (after the merger a number of years back now both Orange Polska), PZU (on the supervisory board), PKN Orlen and PGNiG. Most recently, Grazyna spent 5 years as CEO and president of the management board of Virgin Mobile Poland, following a period of advising private companies and PE funds.
Pierre has extensive international experience in both senior executive and non-executive roles within finance, European Retail and European property businesses. He is a non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee at Firmenich SA, independent director and chairman of the audit committee at Entain (GVC Holdings Plc), a director and chairman of the audit, accounts and risks committee of Albioma SA, and non-executive director of GeoPost SA. Pierre’s experience of managing significant listed companies, including as chief executive of Casino, allows him a deep insight into how strategic changes may affect the retail and property sectors. He has a strong financial background, having been chief financial officer at Schneider Electric, Carrefour and Delhaize.
With extensive executive and non-executive experience, Brendan brings operational, commercial and strategic expertise and insights. Brendan is a non-executive director at Victrex Plc and Synthomer Plc, where he is also senior independent director and chair of the remuneration committee. He is also a non-executive on two private equity backed companies. Brendan has over 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas and the testing and inspection industries. He was a senior executive at Intertek Group, having been CEO of Moody International which was acquired by Intertek in 2011. Brendan was managing director of Atos in the UK after spending over 25 years with Schlumberger in senior international roles.
Neil has extensive global experience in corporate restructurings, private equity and dispute resolution and wide international commercial board experience. He has held a number of chairman, director and committee positions in international organisations including Magma Fincorp India, gategroup, Iceland Foods and Islandsbanki. Earlier in his career Neil helped to build the successful financial services arm of Apax Partners. He acted as a special advisor to the Senior Oversight Committee of the Asset Protection Scheme, operated by an executive arm of HM Treasury. Neil is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a former corporate finance partner at PwC and Deloitte.
Helen Lee Bouygues
Helen started her career in 1995 at J.P. Morgan in the M&A group in New York and in Hong Kong. From 2000 until 2004, she worked at Cogent Communications Inc. as chief operating officer, chief financial officer and treasurer before becoming a partner at Alvarez & Marsal Paris. In 2010, she launched her own consulting firm specialising in corporate turnaround and transformations. From 2014 to 2017 she was partner responsible for the Recovery and Transformation Services division at McKinsey & Company in Paris before leaving to progress her career, providing strategic board level advice for multiple companies.
Paul is a board member and senior advisor in the industrial, service and consumer/retail sectors. He has international experience in M&A, strategic assessment, organisational transformation and financial restructuring with a focus on the US and Europe. He is currently Chair of Steenbok Newco 3 (an intermediate holding company within the Steinhoff group), Chair and member of the Audit and Compensation committees of Stripes Holdings, Inc (Mattress Firm), non-executive director and member of both the governance and compensation committees of McDermott International, Ltd (multinational provider of engineering, procurement, construction and installation for the energy industry). Prior boards include Gucci Group N.V., Saks Holdings, Inc., Convenience Food Systems BV and Evoca S.p.A. Additionally, Paul was previously a partner and member of the management committee of AEA Investors LP in AEA’s London office.
Divisional MD - PEPCO
Trevor joined the Group in November 2019. He has 40 years’ experience within the retail sector, both within the UK and internationally, and significant executive experience having served as the Chief Executive Officer of Tesco International for seven years and in various operational roles within the UK for Tesco. Trevor held a number of board positions within Tesco’s international businesses, including various joint ventures and investment vehicles.

Anand joined Pepco in 2017. He has significant experience within the retail sector having previously acted as Retail Finance Director at Halfords and has also held senior finance roles at Argos and Egg plc. Anand is a qualified accountant.

Divisional MD - Poundland, Dealz & PGS
Sean joined is the Divisional MD for Poundland, Dealz and PGS after previously working for Pepkor SA. Sean has 17 years’ experience within the retail sector and a further 10 years’ experience in manufacturing, having held a number of general management roles within both sectors. Before joining the Group, Sean was Managing Director of Ackermans, a South African value retailer with 600 stores, and served on the board of directors of Pepkor SA. Sean also has significant experience in sourcing and has been responsible for the PGS business since 2015.
Managing Director – Poundland
Barry joined Poundland in 2016 as Trading Director and was promoted to Managing Director of Poundland in 2017. He has over 30 years’ experience within the retail sector, 20 of which were in the discount sector, having spent his early career at Kwik Save and having served most recently as Trading Director and then Marketing Director at Asda. Between these periods, he gained experience in partnership models with the Co-Operative Movement and in wholesale with Musgrave Retail Partners.
Finance Director – Poundland
Dave joined Poundland in 2018 and has responsibility for the Finance, Property, Legal, Procurement and Internal Audit departments. He has over 20 years’ experience in retail and, prior to joining Poundland, Dave was the Chief Financial Officer of The Original Factory Shop, acted as Group Commercial Director of JD Sports and held senior financial positions at Focus Wickes and JJB Sports. Dave is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
Managing Director – Dealz CEE
Marcin joined the Group in 2007 as Pepco Buying Director before becoming Managing Director of Dealz CEE in 2017. Marcin is responsible for launching and expanding Dealz in CEE. He has over 23 years’ experience in various retail functions, including store operations and buying and merchandising, having held the positions of Buying Director at Auchan and Store Director at Dixons prior to joining the Group.
Managing Director – Dealz Spain
Mark has been Managing Director of Dealz Spain since November 2018, having previously acted as Development Director of the Group for three years. Mark was one of the founding Directors of the Group’s operations in 2014. He has worked in the retail sector for the last 11 years, in strategy, M&A and business development roles for Nectar (the customer loyalty programme of J Sainsbury Plc) and prior to that for Bain & Company.
Business Development Director, Dealz CEE
Marcin joined Pepco at its inception in Poland in 1999 in the then role of Country Manager. In his 20-year career with Pepco, Marcin has served as part of the leadership team responsible for building and developing the Pepco brand across Central Europe. As Operations Director, Marcin has specific responsibility for store expansion, managing significant capital investment and retail operations. Marcin has over 25 years’ experience in the retail sector, having previously worked at Biedronka in Poland.
Managing Director – PGS
Carlos joined the Group in May 2016. He has 30 years’ international sourcing experience providing supply chain solutions for major European, North American and Australian retailers. Carlos has significant experience in developing a number of sizeable and profitable sourcing operations in Asia having earlier in his career held international positions with Adidas, Van Heusen and The Arcadia Group plc.
