Pepco announces expansion into 19th Market; North Macedonia

Pepco, one of Europe’s leading pan-European discount variety retailers, has confirmed that it will enter the North Macedonian market in June 2026, with the first stores planned to open in Skopje.

The launch marks Pepco’s debut in North Macedonia and represents another milestone in the Group’s ambitious growth strategy, focused on measured expansion across Central and Eastern Europe and selective entry into new geographies.

For millions of customers across Europe, Pepco has become a destination store for everyday essentials – a place where families can discover fashion, homeware and practical products that are on-trend, good quality and affordable. The arrival of Pepco in North Macedonia will bring this appreciated value proposition to local shoppers for the first time.

Pepco currently operates over 4,000 stores across 18 European countries. The company continues to deliver strong performance in CEE and sees capacity for additional stores in the region, including growth in new markets such as North Macedonia.

“North Macedonia has been on our expansion roadmap for some time. Entering this market is a natural next step in Pepco’s development, building on our strong presence across Central and Eastern Europe and neighboring countries such as Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our purpose is simple: to make everyday life easier for customers by offering quality clothing and general merchandise at market-leading prices. We are excited to bring this proposition to North Macedonian families and to open stores that are nearby, convenient, and easy to shop,” said Marcin Stanko, Chief Operating Officer CEE.

A proven model, arriving in a high-growth phase

Pepco’s entry into North Macedonia comes at a time of strong operational and financial momentum for the Group. After a strategic refocus on its core Pepco brand and exit from FMCG categories, the company is accelerating profitable growth through a simplified, scalable store format, disciplined capital allocation and a sharpened customer proposition centered on price leadership and product availability.

While the brand is strongly growing across Western European countries, the CEE region also presents great potential, benefiting from strong and widespread brand recognition in many local markets.

Pepco’s strategy explicitly includes opening new stores both in established countries and in new markets such as North Macedonia, supported by strong returns on investment and fast payback periods.
